We learnt about co regulating emotions, what strategies we can take to help children regulate their emotions, these included breathing techniques, body scanning (closing your eyes and starting from your feet to your head, naming each body part).


I personally took more out of it though, what strategies I can put in place to help calm me, how a simple breathing technique can release stress. On a personal perspective I did think about my 2 year old and how he has a lot of bog emotions. Maria went through he fact that under 3's cant actually regulate (this fact I believe a lot of educators should know, as we all come in thinking that all children can regulate) it really hit home with how I should be dealing with these emotions instead of the way I do.

About me

Hi! I’m Maria Dillane

I'm a wife, mum of two young kids (ages 6 and 3), nurse, educator and wellbeing specialist. Originally from Ireland, I now live in Melbourne, where i combine my experiences as a mother and professional to help others prioritise their health and happiness.


After experiencing burnout early in my motherhood journey, I realised the importance of prioritising my wellbeing. Since 2020 I have been studying and working in the wellbeing space, empowering parents, caregivers, and professionals to create positive change and lasting growth.

 

Having worked with individuals and small groups, I’m now excited to offer workshops for community groups and workplaces, expanding my support to help teams and organizations thrive. Whether through one-on-one coaching, tailored strategies, or group workshops, I provide actionable, compassionate support to improve relationships, break unhelpful patterns, and build a culture of connection and wellbeing.
